Xiaomi has made itself a key player in fitness tracking wearables market thanks to it enormously successful Xiaomi Mi Band series. This success has opened new avenues of possibilities for this Chinese based brand as it is eyeing to explore the opportunities in Smart Watch Market. 5th November this year will see the launch in China of a device running on Wear OS.
All the rumoured information so far leads to the assumption that this device is going to have all the high end features of any flagship smart watch in the market right now. Although, the device will be running on a tweaked version of Google’s Wear OS supposedly name “Mi Wear OS”. According to various leaks and reports, this smart watch will also have eSIM Card Support, on the go payment with NFC, built in GPS, Voice Assistant support and 4G LTE. This all will run on Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor.
Few weeks ago, several names were registered by Xiaomi in China including Mi Mix Alpha, Mi Watch Color and Millenium Mix Alpha. Recent unveiling of Mi Mix Alpha just leaves behind the Mi Watch now. Although the biggest hint toward a forthcoming release was the information posted on Weibo, the Chinese social network, in last few days.
The design and shape of this watch is very close to the Apple Watch by Apple. Although it appears to be thicker. It has a square shape and appears to have mic, speakers and a power button. On its right, it also appears to have a crown while its display is protected with 3D curved glass. The strap of this smartwatch is rumoured to be made of first-rate fluoro rubber. This will make it sweatproof, anti-allergic and easy to replace.
Huami manufactures the Mi Bands which also has a series of smart watches under the name of Amazfit. Although Xiaomi has not unveiled any smart watch under its own brand name.
