Rumours have be circulating all over internet regarding Xiaomi’s upcoming smart fitness band which will reportedly carry SpO2 technology and support for Amazon Alexa. Other noteable feature updates include a few of functionalities to assist in women’s health.
Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 back in June of 2019, almost a year ago. It has been following the trend of releasing a brand new generation of this smart fitness band every year for some years now. All the facts and available data point towards Xiaomi releasing the next generation of Xiaomi Mi Band in next few weeks.
We are yet to see any official confirmation on what Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will bring in itself while the current generation of this smart fitness band has 120 x 240 pixels screen resolution with AMOLED display and it measures up to just below an inch at 0.95 inches. All this is expected to be bested by Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
According to various leaks and rumours, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will have NFC support beyond China, which is something we had not seen as of yet. Xiaomi Mi Band 4 does not support NFC payment outside China even though it is equipped with the necessary hardware. This development will let Xiaomi Mi Band to add support for payment services like Google Pay.
According to some digging in Amazfit smartphone application by some sources, it is reported that this upcoming smart fitness band will also carry SpO2 technology which will enable to measure the level of oxygen in the blood stream of the wearer.
Amazon Alexa will also be featured in Xiaomi Mi Band 5 as a virtual assistant according the same sources. Xiaomi has added Alexa support to their devices before but it will be the first time we are going to see Alexa in a Mi Band. The official announcement by Xiaomi for Xiami Mi Band 5 is expected to take place sometime during June or July.
