Virtual Reality Training with EON Sports VR in Partnership with Japan’s Yokohama DeNA Baystars

EON Sports is currently leading the world of virtual and augmented reality startup technology as far as professional athlete training is concerned. EON Sports VR has decided to partner with the Yokohama DeNA Baystars to introduce “W.I.N. Series.”

W.I.N. is EON Sports’ software based on VR that has been created for Interactive Player Development and simulation solutions. It is a magnificent and contemporary baseball training system and integrates the world’s most advanced baseball VR simulator software. Professional baseball players can experience the technology with Head Mounted Display Systems (HMDs) such as Google Cardboard as well as large scale multi projector systems like the EON iCube.

The Baystars are Japan’s first professional baseball team to incorporate W.I.N in player training the coming season. Baystars are not only first Japanese professional baseball team to feature EON Sports’ innovative training technology but also the company’s first international sports client.  This joint venture will urge other sports teams to experiment with the amazing technology of virtual and augmented reality. The Baystars have established a training room dedicated to EON Sports’ technology at Yokohama Stadium.

When Baystars’ outfielder Takayuki Kajitani experienced the technology, he remarked: “I actually was able to experience the atmosphere in the iCube, standing in the batter’s box. I felt it was very realistic of what I would see in the game. I’m going to take advantage of the iCube to experience the pitching of pitchers who I’ve never played against, and will be able to experience it before an actual match.”

EON’s iCube is a magnificent multi-projector system for the players to experience facing an actual pitcher. The ball tracking system compiles all the imagery data from the Yokohama Stadium. EON then reproduces and simulates various modalities of that data including ball flight, throwing motion and sharpness of the changing ball. A variety of data from different kinds of pitches can be accumulated to realistically reproduce experiences for baseball player training.

Former Colorado Rockies GM and current MLB Network Analyst, Dan O’Dowd said, “EON Sports is excited to announce our partnership with the Baystars. They are joining the growing number of professional baseball teams that are using our technology to enhance and change the way players are prepared and developed within the game of baseball. They are one of the most respected franchises in all of baseball, and we are thrilled to work with them on this next generation of player development.”

As the Baystars are introducing this cutting edge training technology in their 2017 season, their player performance and proficiency and the training environment will be highly upgraded. Many other teams have also set their eyes on this technology.
