Recently unveiled, Tesla Bot Robot By Elon Musk is based on Tesla’s vehicle AI. Only last week, Elon Musk has unveiled the prototype for a humanoid robot that will be based on the same AI that is in use by Tesla’s fleet of autonomous vehicles.
A very unexpected announcement, the functioning version of the robot did not make an appearance at the Tesla AI Day presentation. But a performer dressed liked the Tesla Bot did appear on stage and performed a bizarre dance.
With 5 feet, 8 inches in height, the Tesla Bot will weigh 125 pounds. It will be equipped with an autopilot camera on the head which Tesla’s vehicles also possess. A full screen will be present on the front to display information. An internal Tesla’s Full Self-Driving computer will operate the robot.
“It’s intended to be friendly, and navigate through a world built for humans”, jokes Musk. In the recent event, three slides with the robot’s specifications were presented. Only recently, Musk was really concerned about the overuse of AI, ad he thinks AI is “the biggest risk we face as a civilization”. Robots should be slow and willing to be overpowered by the human who designed them. But Musk says, “What we’re trying to do here at Tesla is make useful AI that people love and is… unequivocally good.”
The benefit of Tesla Bot is that it will perform dangerous, repetitive, and boring tasks. One such example includes going to the grocery store to buy a few things. This will indeed, change the way how work will be done in the future. But right now this concept exists only in form of PowerPoint slides. The actual creation of Tesla Bot Robot By Elon Musk will take several years to complete. The prototype might be ready by next year.
