Support for Google Assistant added in FitBit OS 5.1

FitBit Operating System Update v5.1 has started being rolled out by FitBit for FitBit Versa 3 and Fitbit Sense. It has brought with itself a few useful features like support for Google Assistant and some news ways of tracking blood oxygen with SpO2.

The rollout is gradual and might take some time to reach your FitBit device. Your Fitbit application will notify you once the update is available to your device. With this new update, the users will be able to use Google Assistant on their Fitbit Versa 3 and FitBit Sense devices. Additionally, the support for Alexa is also available in these devices as well. This gives you a choice to use your preferred Voice Assistant on your FitBit device. This feature, however, is currently only available in United States of America for now. But we can expect to see this feature available in other regions as well by the end of this year. Its worth noting that only one out of Alexa or Google Assistant is available at a time.

You can also attend voice calls with your FitBit Versa 3 and FitBit Sense as well. This means, you do not need to take out your smartphone from your pocket anymore to have a conversation with your caller. This feature can be enabled by following a set of instructions.

Users will also be able to monitor the level of oxygen in their blood stream directly from their wrists. Prior to this, the only way for users to check their blood oxygen level was through accompanying FitBit smartphone application. The value will be available in percentage on the Watch Face. As many as 7 new watch faces wth SpO2 will be rolled out before the end of 2020. Well over a million users have already downloaded the original watch face with SpO2, according to FitBit.
