Mi Band 5 is the next in line wristband in Xiaomi’s popular smart bands series.
Huami has confirmed the news of them already working on the next Mi Band that will be the successor to recently unveiled Mi Band 4. This news was made public during a Questions and Answers session post earnings call of Q2 2019 by Huami. Officials from the brand responded to an inquiry related to the Mi Band series and the cooperation it offers to Xiaomi. The possibility of us seeing a Mi Band 5 was also discussed during the session.
“We are actually developing Mi-Band 5 with Xiaomi,” said Wang Huang. He is the CEO, Chairman of The Board and founder of Huami.
Some questions were also asked about the future plans of Huami and the lineup of the products they are planning to unveil. Wang’s response to this confirmed the development of Mi Band 5 being already in progress and a launch window for its release was also hinted.
“We do not have – we do not have a fixed time when we’re going to launch Mi-Band 5. But I would say that we have already started working on Mi-Band 5 with Xiaomi and it’s not going to take that long. So we just launched Mi-Band 4, but potentially toward the [Indecipherable] of next year, we may launch Mi-Band 5.”
This continued collaboration between Huami and Xiaomi is not a surprise to anyone, looking at how successfully it has been going so far. One million units of Mi Band 4 were sold during first eight days of its release. This success encouraged both companies to continue this venture.
Wang Huang said that Huami will “continue to work closely with Xiaomi on new product releases,” and also made clear that it is following the originals long term plans with Xiaomi without any changes or amendments.
