For their fourth annual Sports tank event for sports entrepreneurs on the 10th of March, TPG Sports group has announced a new partner ship with the footwear giant Under Armour.
What is all the hype about?
This partnership means that Under Armour will be presenting the first ever “Under Armour Innovation Award” to one of the lucky participating sports entrepreneurs . The recipient company will get a chance to pitch their start up to a group of Under Armour team mates. They will also get a chance to tour the Under Armour headquarters and the Lighthouse facility where most of the designing and manufacturing happens.
According to Lorin Hamlin, Manager of Innovation Partnerships at Under Armour, they are very excited to meet entrepreneurs from all around the globe under one roof since Urban Armour is always on the look out for disruptive innovation in sports and space technology.
Okay, but what is Sports Tank?
TPG sports group conducts an annual event known as Sports Tank. Every year, hundreds of start ups are invited to pitch ground breaking ideas to strategic venture capitalists and world-class sports industry executives. The competition is open to sports entrepreneurs from all around the globe. Last year more than 275 companies from over 22 countries applied.
The deadlines for applications is the 10th of March 2018. The applicants will then be shortlisted and 5 companies will be selected to present their pitch at the Sports Tank event on the 1st of May in Newyork. Each of the five finalists will receive an all expenses paid trip to New york to participate in the event.
Under Armour will select one of the finalists as the winner of their Innovation award which will be presented live on stage at the event.
