Launched recently, is the Samsung Processor For Smart Wearable Gadgets. Only a 5-nanometer (nm) wearable processor, was unveiled last week by Samsung Electronics.
Literally, a unique item in the wearable device market, this particular processor named Exynos W920 is the industry’s first such item of this kind. This processor boasts extreme ultraviolet lithography technology, enhanced performance, and power efficiency.
With Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 being launched this week, it is expected that the new smartwatch is equipped with this new 5 mn processor. This processor integrates an LTE modem, two ARM Cortex-A55 cores, and an ARM Mali-G68 graphics processing unit. This unit improves CPU performance to a substantial amount and offers 10 times better graphics performance than its predecessor.
With a fan-out panel-level packaging (FO-PLP), the Exynos W920 allows manufacturers to use larger batteries in slim and sleek models of smartwatches and fitness bands.
Featuring a low-power display processor, the Cortex-M55, this new processor by Samsung can reduce power consumption under an always-on-display mode for wearable devices. It supports a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) L1 to better track speed, distance, and locations.
