Samsung has long been trying to push its luck in the wearable world. Wearables after wearables and patents after patents are coming our way. Similarly, the company has also been looking to add its signature Smartphone features into the wearables too. This is why a patent by Samsung has just surfaced showing that the company is ready to bring the Fingerprint scanners into the wearables.
A patent filed at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) reveals that Samsung is trying to build an advanced biometric system that authenticates by sensing a user’s vein structure and pulse that comes in contact with wearables. In other words, the fingerprint scanning enabled device. Samsung’s application reveals that the company s looking at various mean to authenticate the identity of its users.  The South Korean company is trying to build a biometric Smartwatch that can recognize you through your veins.

Samsung has defined the advanced fingerprint scanning system in the Smartwatches similar to that of the Smartphones. The filed patent application shows a system that has light sensors along with a camera sensor to track the vein structure of a wearer. The sensor will also detect the users’ unique pulse. While, working together, the security system tells if the reading is unique or not. The same way the Smartphones with fingerprint scanners do.

It is expected that the sensor would be based on an infra-red technology. The panel of the sensor will be embedded on the side of the wearable. The patent has basically unveiled a camera sensor that can scan the area on the back of a user’s palm to record the complete structure of veins in its memory. Before positively identifying the user, the sensor scans the vein structure of a user; every authentication attempt will take its cue from the image first captured.
The patent was published on February 4, 2016. However, it was officially filed on July 29, 2015.
