World Oceans Week is coming this June. From 5th to 11th June, World Oceans Week is observed to show concern with water and especially ocean pollution.
This year around we have come across an amazing campaign to raise awareness of ocean pollution. Parley, a social activist group that work for protection of our oceans has joined hands with Adidas to launch a collaborated venture called “Digital Run.” Digital Run will be a worldwide project where runners all across the world will run for the oceans and log their mileage on the fitness tracking app Runtastic.
There are other audio and video initiatives associated with digital run too. Runners can also listen to the customized music dedicated to Mother Nature and our oceans over the app.
In order to raise awareness about the oceans being saturated with oils spills and plastic pollution, the bleached coral reefs and the rising global temperatures, Adidas and Parley will also host a night in New York on June 8th, with an audience of 5,000+ to illuminate the city streets with blue lights to reflect undersea tones.
“We have already taken the first steps to reduce and ultimately eliminate virgin and single use plastic from our products,” Eric Liedtke, Adidas executive for global brands said. “We have shown that it is possible, and that people care – but now we must accelerate and scale. At the heart of our brand is the belief that through sport, we have the power to change lives. With the Run for the Oceans, we’re using this power of sport to inspire action.”
