Growing Trend of Wearables in US Soccer, Deal Over 1.5 B $ Signed.

US Soccer has made a huge investment by signing a deal of over 1.5 billion USD with StatSports of Ireland which is a sports wearable company. This deal is a first of its kind in many ways. Even though major US leagues such as the NFL and NBA utilize similar technology for their players, none have this large a written contract. This deal will ensure the services are offered to all  million  soccer players registered with US Soccer, which makes it the biggest deal of its kind ever. This deal also serves as an ice breaker for a Europe based tech firm’s entry in the US in such a grand manner . This deal will also serve as an initial step in providing all soccer players whether amateur, youth or professional which is a commendable action in itself.

What is StatSports?

StatSports is a leading sports wearable company based in Ireland. It has provided its services to numerous professional clubs in Europe and around the world, including English Premiere League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as the Brazilian, German, Portuguese, Belgian and English football associations. NFL, NHL and NBA has also occasionally used its services without any official contract.

According to the contract between StatSports and US Soccer, STATSports will provide its APEX athlete monitoring devices to all  million of  players registered with the US Soccer. The devices are worn in a vest and placed between the shoulder blades. The devices track distance, speed, acceleration, deceleration, high-speed running, load and heart rate. The data from these devices can be streamed to all routine smart devices and analyzed. The devices used will be 6,500 APEX Team Series systems.

Who will benefit from this deal?

All  4 million soccer players registered with US soccer will be given these devices. The Men’s and Women’s National Teams, the Paralympic National Team, Futsal National Team, Beach Soccer National Team, National Women’s Soccer League, youth national teams and development academy clubs will all be provided with these devices to monitor,improve and enhance their performance
