Several wearable brands have launched applications and features to encourage hand washing and overall cleanliness and now finally Garmin has made the decision to be a part of this cause as well.
Apple launched an application to wash hands while FitBit launched a clock face signifying the importance of washing hands. Samsung and Google also came up with their ideas to be a part of this cause and now finally Garmin has stepped into this with the launch of a widget and timer.
All these steps have been taken to raise the awareness regarding cleanliness in order to fight the COVID-19 and its spread which has taken over the entire planet by now. According to the official statement released by World Health Organization (WHO), the best way an individual can prevent the spread of this pandemic is by keeping a social distance and washing hands with water, soap or an alcohol based rub.
To remind its user to wash their hands regularly, Garmin has come up with Garmin Handwashing timer which reminds you to watch hands with the help of a vibration and it resets after every two hours by default. This time period can be modified to half an hour, 1 hour and 3 hours. It can also be set to remind you to wash up before taking your meals. In addition to that, you will also find 7 steps demonstration of washing your hands properly. A 30 seconds timer will encourage you to do the job thoroughly. Garmin Smart Watches now also have a feature to show the time since last hand wash which takes all the excuses away from you for not being hygienic. This feature can be found in various Garmin Smart Watches. Forerunner 945, Forerunner 245, Forerunner 645, Fenix 5 Plus and newer, Vivoactive 4, Rey, Venue and the MARQ range are some of the Smart Watches to be introduced with this feature.
