According to various leaks and rumours, Garmin will most likely launch another one of its high end smart watch, The Garmin Forerunner 955, sometime next year. Code in Garmin Connect gave away a lot to developers who now claim that there are a number of other products about to be launched by Garmin very soon as well. These products include Forerunner 745, Fenix 6 Sports and others. The developer who unearthed this information from Garmin Connect application during its tear down also claims that these devices are in their final stages of production.
“I’m a developer and when I saw in the latest Garmin Connect had the note “features to support new Garmin devices.” I decided to do a quick APK Teardown and comparison, low and behold, there’s some new code, let’s get into it.” he said “The devices that seem to be in the final state are (they’re listed in the AndroidManifest.xml and have their own dedicated folders with various setup files)”
He shared the whole block of by comparing the previous APK with the latest one and revealed a lot of information about Garmin’s upcoming ventures. Forerunner 955 is also present in these devices present in this block of code along with Lumen, Tactix Delta, Sapphire and Solar and many others.
According to this, Forerunner 955 will hit the market around a year following the release of its predecessor, Garmin 945. It is yet to be seen what kind of upgrades Garmin Forerunner 955 will bring in with itself.
Apart from that, a sports focused variant of Fenix 6 is also expected to be released as well and so is a second generation of Index Scale. But perhaps the most intriguing thing in this block of code is “Lumen”. This product is yet to be seen but it may have something to do with golf according to the developer. However, it is important to know that all of this information are unconfirmed rumours and Garmin has not officially announced any of it so far.
