Lately, Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch recalled for potential burning hazards. Truth is, around 174 reports have been obtained from consumers worldwide that the watch has been overheating. Around 118 of them have even reported burn injuries. Hence, the Google-owned company Fitbit, has therefore recalled the stock of this particular model.
Launched in 2017, the Fitbit Ionic offered almost all wellness and health-related features, including activity tracking, heart rate, and sleep monitoring. Within three years, this watch has surpassed sales of one million units, not to mention another 693000 units sold only in India.
Due to this recall, Fitbit has announced a refund of $299 once the user returns their watch to the company itself. Also, they have announced a 40% discount on selected Fitbit products for the affected. This has been confirmed by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. Affected can claim this at the Help section of Fitbit’s official website.
The four different model variants which Fitbit has recalled include FB503CPBU, FB503GYBK, FB503WTGY, and FB503WTNV. Fitbit wants more and more consumers to come forward to return the hazardous item and avail the refund and discounts. It is for the benefit of the consumer themselves.
A consumer wrote as complaint, ”I felt something stinging on my wrist, found out the problem lies with the smartwatch I was wearing”.
Apparently, it is not the first time Fitbit has recalled any item. Previously, they had to do the same with one of their wearables called Force wristband. People had been complaining of skin rashes and irritation on their wrists after wearing this.
As Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch Recalled for Potential Burning Hazards, if you are owner of this smartwatch then it is recommended that you take the above mentioned action and return the watch as early as possible.
