Cricket App CricHQ Pockets International Sports Technology Award in the UK

When CricHQ was nominated as one of the finalists in the Best-Integrated Digital Media category at the United Kingdom-based Sports Technology Awards, the people behind this Wellington startup weren’t as hopeful. However, their cricket app CricHQ did it for them. The excellent website and app has pocketed an international sports technology award. Previously, this award has been won by the NBA, Wimbledon and AIG.

The venture has also been nominated at the New Zealand Excellence in IT Awards, one at the CMO Asia Awards and the Innovation Awards

CricHQ founder Simon Baker was very thrilled at this achievement. He said, “The global broadcasting landscape is in a state of change and this creates a huge opportunity for CricHQ, our clients and 500 million online fans around the world who consume sport differently than previous generations.” He added, “This award serves as great encouragement and recognition that we are on the right path by integrating video and audio into our platform.”

CricHQ is a cricket-based website and app. For the worldwide spread cricket audience, the app has live information and match livestreaming; for the players, teams and coaches it has game statistics and metrics for analysis. Recently CricHQ has gained acquisition of My Action Replay, which has expanded its platform and let teams to livestream their matches alongside live match data and infographics.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson who has also one of the judges for the awards, said about CricHQ, “Technology will continue to play an important role in the development and promotion of the game as we seek to engage future generations of players and fans.”
