The organizing figures of CES event for 2021 has announced that the event will be held entirely online next year. Under normal circumstances, CES is hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada annually. It is believed to be the largest electronics show held annually. In over half a century long history of this event, it will be the first such occasion where the event will take place with a group of people physically gathered in Las Vegas.
Due to the ongoing pandemic crisis around the world, it was deemed necessary to do whatever possible to avoid any kind of unnecessary risks. CES2020 took place in January this year only a few weeks before the spread of Coronavirus across entire Wuhan. CES 2021 is also expected to be held in earlier weeks of January, next year but this time the consumers and the participants will be attending and presenting online.
Consumer Electronic Show, more commonly known as CES, has been the leading annually held technology show for quite some time now. It has provided a launching platform for a number of products for last 54 years. Few of the products launched during this show even managed to change our lives for the better as well.
“Amid the pandemic and growing global health concerns about the spread of COVID-19, it’s just not possible to safely convene tens of thousands of people in Las Vegas in early January 2021 to meet and do business in person,” stated Gary Shapiro, “Technology helps us all work, learn and connect during the pandemic — and that innovation will also help us reimagine CES 2021 and bring together the tech community in a meaningful way. By shifting to an all-digital platform for 2021, we can deliver a unique experience that helps our exhibitors connect with existing and new audiences.” Mr. Shapiro is the CEO and President, CTA.
It is unfortunate but the decision of holding an online convention is understandable considering it will avoid risking lives unnecessarily.
