Club Deportivo Leganes of the Spanish first division has announced the launch of its own virtual reality channel. They have joined hands with The Dream VR for the rest of the 2016-17 season and has enabled fans to see behind the scenes footage before games in a complete 360 degree view. This Dream Virtual Reality is the world’s first 360-degrees TV, it is a new way of understanding TV where the user moves from being a mere spectator to immersing himself in the contents and interacting with them.
Fans can see this exclusive content, such as locker room footage on a channel within the Dream VR application which is available on both, Android and iOS devices under the ‘sport’ tab. Great number of pieces of content has been produced by the deal, which are available for the fans to view including a recent game against league leaders Real Madrid. It also build upon an initial piece of content, launched in November 2016, in what the Dream VR called a ‘content capsule’ to collaborate with CD Leganes away game at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu stadium.
With three leagues remaining, currently CD Leganes is hovering just outside the relegation zone in the La Liga soccer division.
This is the most perfect platform for La Liga clubs for football fans in order to enjoy and be closer to their clubs, living different experiences in virtual reality and 360. Moreover, they will be competing with their big neighbors in Madrid, which are; Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, in one of the biggest football leagues in the world. This is basically the first club in Spanish football league with a virtual reality channel, making exciting content for their fans.
In a completely separate interview, which was translated from Spanish, Pablo Suque who is the executive director of the Dream VR confirmed that another La Liga club, RCD Espanyol are also piloting the technology currently along with various individuals athletes.
