LiveLike is the world’s first virtual reality platform to watch live sports with friends. They started off winning the TechCrunch competition called “1st and Future” earlier in the year and since then have not looked back. More recently, the company has now secured $5 million from former NBA Boss David Stern and a group of venture firms led by Evolution Media Partners.
LiveLike already has many customers. The virtual reality (VR) viewership is increasing and it with an estimate of 37,000 people logged into VR platform few weeks back. This small company not only makes the game streaming possible for Fox but it has a partnership with Fox Sports to air games on their VR platform. It has taken an international step as well by airing English Premier League, Roland Garros matches and the El Classico in Spain.
The way LiveLike was it different to many other VR streaming process. It works with low-cost VR headsets including Google Cardboard and your ordinary smartphone so affordability is pretty easy compared to other VR headsets. Once you have the headset on, fans are visualized in a suite with their friends. It then allows you to watch the game from various different viewing angles even as if you are sitting on the edge of the court.
