The Chinese Tech Giant has publically announced that it will launch Watch GT 2 through a video posted on Chinese social networking website called Weibo. This smartwatch is announced to be unveiled on 19th of September this year at an event in Munich, Germany.

This smartwatch is the successor of Huaei Watch GT which was released less than a year ago in October 2018. It operates on Light OS, a stripped back operating system by Huawei. Most notable feature of this smartwatch is its gigantic battery life. It can stay up for as long as fourteen days before needing to be charged. This doesn’t stop here as this battery life can be bumped up even further if heart rate monitoring is turned off.

Huawei has set a big portion of its focus and resources in developing an operating system called HarmonyOS to reduce its dependency on Google and its operating systems like Android and WearOS. There is a huge possibility for the launch of Huawei Watch 3 to be delayed as Huawei will most likely wait for HarmonyOS to be completely ready for its introduction in next Huawei Watch.

Not much has been confirmed by Huawei regarding the features that will accompany Huawei Watch GT 2 except from it incorporating a chipset called Kirin A1. Only thing we know about this chipset so far is that has been a part of Huawei FreeBuds 3 as well which will rival with Apple’s new AirPods.

Huawei Watch GT 2 is rumoured to mainly have fitness focussed specifications. Some of these rumoured specifications include water resistance up to the depth of 5 ATM, GPS and a heart rate sensor. It will most likely carry a 445mAh battery unlike its predecessor which only had a 420mAh battery. A microphone and Speaker are also added to it which support the rumours of it having a phone call feature but there is a very little to no chance of a LTE Chip being present in this smartwatch.

We will not have to wait for long to know more about this smartwatch as its inauguration is only a few days away now.
